JawaharLal Nehru Memorial College is one of the oldest institutions in the field of higher education in India to be established on the 28th May, 1964 in the memory of the first Prime Minister of our Country Pt. Amongst General Masses of the people, there were some social worker and education loving persons like Mahatyagi Udia Baba, Rajendra Pratap Singh, M.L.A. & Ram Ugrah Ram, who played important role in getting this college established in such a rural and backward area of the district of East Champaran. Initially, it was started in morning shift in the premise of local T.R.M.P. High School. In the long run a noted farmer of the locality Babu Janak Singh of Kadamwa village gladly donated a single piece of land of 15 acres in the year 1965 where the college is running in its own building with such a large campus full of greeneries and wide playground. In the very beginning, the college was started with Intermediate standard course and ultimately it became an affiliated unit of B.R.A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur for teaching up-to undergraduate level in the year 1969 by Govt. of Bihar. In due course, the college received recognition under U.G.C. Act of 2(f) & 12(B) in the year 1972 and was converted into a constituent unit of B.R.A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur w.e.f. 1st October, 1980.
